During my time at Jera, I was given the wonderful opportunity to interview the incredibly brilliant and generous author Lee Gimenez. Mr. Gimenez is a self-published and traditionally published author of eleven books. Some of his best sellers include Killing West, The Washington Ultimatum, and BlackSnow Zero. Words cannot describe the overwhelming sensation that came over me as I found out I had been given such an amazing opportunity by Jera Publishing and Mr. Gimenez himself. (more…)

Having to move to a suburban town like Roswell at the age of eight was like entering an undiscovered planet, especially when all I knew was Chinese culture and language. I had no idea how to read or write when I stepped into the classroom on my first day of second grade. The basic phrases of communication were erratic to me. Considering the language barrier of my past, it may seem inconceivable that this Roswell High School senior would be interning at a self-publishing company, (more…)

It’s been five months since I started interning at Jera—I can’t believe it. Thinking back to the first day I stepped foot into Jera’s office, I had no idea what my experience would be like. However, nervous fretting quickly turned into eager excitement. I was quickly immersed into Jera’s daily life, and since then, time has flown by. Since the introducing of the Kindle, the eBook market has grown leaps and bounds, with many in the industry saying that it would take over the print market. Today, the eBook market has leveled out, and we do not believe that it will cause the print market to completely go away, at least not for quite some time. (more…)

About a month ago, I was given the amazing opportunity of interviewing the wonderfully charming and talented self-published author Sue Horner. Sue, author of Second Place Sister, published her first book through Jera Publishing and is currently working on the sequel. I cannot begin to describe how grateful I am that she gave her precious time to a random high school intern she had never previously met. (more…)

Since I wrote in the last newsletter, so much has been done toward bettering my understanding of the self-publishing process and creating my book. I’ve officially written the book I will be publishing with Jera (a fact that never seems to become any less surreal), and now I’m working on the editorial process. I have a lot to improve on, but I’m looking forward to the process. I’ve looked at my writing the same way for many years now, and I’m eager to learn a new perspective. (more…)
